No Filters is Scary

School can be fun. But what is not fun is when you get an assignment that scares the plasma out of your blood.

"Take a picture right now and post it on your blog" My lecturer said.

"And don't think I won't check" he added

I almost yelled 'LIKE THAT?!' If I wanted to show the world my face, it wouldn't be the version with recently acquired puffy cheeks and blackheads from pimples gone wrong, that I'm sporting currently. After spending good money on studio pictures, this man wants me to upload my post-danfo face online and hope people see it?!

Maybe I'm being too dramatic (maybe not), but this is the first time I recognised the same fear I laugh at in my friends; the fear of no filters. Considering I just organised an activity where super model, Nicole Chikwe, talked about the ridiculous standard of beauty women keep trying to conform to--this fear really surprised me!

I thought I had reached that point where I'd be totally confident with my looks--guess not! Somehow, I don't know if any person ever really gets to that point. No one, even models, loves everything about their looks. It could be one mole, a tiny nose, wide shoulders, skinny hips or a host of other imperfections that only their eyes see; because 'flawless' does not and can not exist in man.
